CANDY RINGO
So I took Candy Ringo out this morning with Nate and oh set! At first Ringo seemed a bit stiff and I was worried that he had forgotten how to glide right. Nate put it this way, "dude I tried to just pump like I normally do and he was like no". After we figured out how to ride it a bit the day turned into christmas morning. With those older boards you can't just do those quick pumps and cheap cutbacks. You can cutback and pump but you have to really feel the wave and use some classy cruising style (whole body) to really get him to work right. It was a freaking treat to learn how to surf that way. In the back of my head I have always felt that there was that kind of style out there with these old boards and I have to say that Ive never been more stoked on surfing than I am right now. The board has so much meat on the front end that I was almost on the nose on one wave and almost rid the wave to the shore. I realized that Candy Ringo is full of tricks. Sometimes I just stare at the board and think my, that board is perfect. Anyways when I caught the first wave and got a feel for how Ringo does things where he comes from, I looked to the sky and thanked God for that wave. Nate thinks that this board is a christening of a new life for me. He thinks that from now on my luck is going to change and that Ringo is going to be the lever. I say thats sounds like poetry.
